Ramen Rockets Rocket Review

Lately, for Inquiry we have been learning about rockets and making our own, we did a test and put it on a slide, my group is called Ramen Rockets, which I told you in the last blog post.

I am very happy about our result and rate it 6/10 for our flight here it is :>

George the Donkey

 Hello Fellow Bloggers!

For Literacy, we are focusing on kids stories, and we made our own, mine is about a made-up character that I created, called George the Donkey! I finished it quite quickly so I decided to put it on my blog.

It's quite weird since I am not good at kids stories, I am more good at stories for people around my age but I still like it so here it is :>

Hellooooooo Fellow Bloggers!

For Inquiry this term we have been learning about space! We got into groups of four and got started on our project, the members in my group are, Tamzin, Jayde, and Nikita, Tamzin being the Leader, first, we had to make a logo for our group this was ours.

 

Our group's name is Ramen ( suggested by yours truly ), next, we came up with places in our group 

Tamzin

• Designer

• Materials engineer

Leticia

• Mission control

• Computer engineer

Nikita

• Electrical engineer

• Mechanical engineer

Jayde

• Biologist

• Astronomer

And this is what those places meant!

Designer

(A Rocket Designer determines where to go, and the special requirement that a certain rocket ship is requiring. They make the color decisions, layout decisions and they hold the details of the engines, equipment, and the materials needed to pass on to the materials engineer, electrical engineer, computer engineer, etc..)

Materials engineer

(A Materials Engineer gets a hold of the materials and equipment required for the rocket and helps create all the items. They tend to have a copy of the blueprints and know where to find what. They are a big part of the design process as well.)

Mission control

(A mission control center MCC, sometimes called a flight control center or operations center, is a facility that manages space flights, usually from the point of launch until landing or the end of the mission.)

Computer engineer

(Computer hardware engineers research, develop, and test computer systems and components such as circuit boards.)

Electrical engineer

(Determine the risks due to solar storms, International Space Station and crews, and make recommendations that would ensure the safety of the shuttle, and crews.)

Mechanical engineer

(Design, develop, build, and test mechanical and thermal sensors and devices including tools, engines, and machines. )

Biologist

(A biologist is a scientist who studies living organisms. Studying life can mean many different things and be very complex. Biology research can focus on how an organism came to exist, how it is built, how it grows, how it functions, what it does, or where it lives.)

Astronomer

(studies celestial objects and phenomena. Objects of interest include planets, moons, stars, nebulae, galaxies, and comets.)

And lastly, we did a Parachute test! We made two Parachutes one of them had 1 square shape with 6 strings attached and tide in the model to make stronger and the second Parachute had 2 rectangles 8 strings and 2 layers for extra support!

The slowest Parachute was the winner, our slowest time was 2.85 seconds, we didn't win though, but we still had fun!

Btw this week is book week and the character I am doing to dress up as is a student from My Hero Academia which is a manga and Manga is Literature, so its book, Anyway, has a FANTASTIC week, bye!

NASA home and Cities!

How were your holidays? Mine was good, I got my hair cut and I also went to armageddon which was really fun, but anyway before I get distracted I will tell you what we have been doing for Inquiry, we have been learning about space and NASA.

We have been doing a tic tac toe about space and NASA and one of the activities let us go on a Website that shows us about space, here is my slide!

The Beautiful Aurora Lights

Its the last day of the term, which means the last blog post of the term :<. But do not worry after two weeks I will be back :>. Anyway, we have been learning about Auroras, an aurora is a natural light display in the sky, usually of greenish color but sometimes red or blue.

This usually occurs in areas known as the 'auroral zone' near the poles of the Arctic in the north and Antarctic in the south.

In Southern hemisphere latitudes, the effect is known as the aurora australis (or the Southern Lights).

Auroras are associated with the solar winds that flow past Earth. These winds flow out from the Sun and contain plasma particles (ionized gas) that get pulled into the Earth's magnetic pole fields.

As they accelerate towards the Earth, collisions occur between these ion particles and nitrogen and oxygen atoms in our atmosphere, releasing energy in the form of amazing aurora lights.

Matariki Animal Art!

Every Friday we do Maori Learning, and recently we have been doing it about Matariki. We have been doing art about it and we were given different options of what our art could be, one of the options was to make the stars into animals representing what each star means. I did it with Charleyse and Jayde, check out their blogs! Anyway here is what it ended up to be.

The Owl represents Matariki, the Eyes of Tawhirimatea.

The Cat represents Waita, Sprinkle.

The Donkey represents, Tupu-a-Nuku, Earth tohunga

The Fantail represents, Waipuna-a-rangi, Sky spring

The eagle represents, Tupu-a-rangi, Sky tohunga

The wolf represents, Ururangi, Entry to the heavens

And the Jellyfish represents, Waiti, Sweet water
